The way to accomplish this is to place a "\" as the first character of the list item content.
There are a few problems, however:
1) This is only easily done for certain rowsourcetypes;
2) You cannot programatically test it to see if it is disabled or not (the "\" does *NOT* remain part of the value)
This is one of those cases where the VFP folk didn't think things through particularly well, and we all get to pay the price!
