I can appreciate your desire to minimize the recoding needed. But even though I can, I till say that the data access is one area that you should spend time redoing when you move from local data to C/S.

It analogous to being in the gardening business with a pickup truck and then changing your business to paving but trying to get away with using the same pickup truck. It can be done, but it is far from the optimal solution.
