The meaning is that VFP can be used as an automation server, that exposes an object model and methods.

From Word or Excel you can ox = CREATEOBJECT( "foxpro.application") and start pumping information. (Would not swear this is the right syntax, but you get the picture).

It has nothing to do with Client/server.
