It isn't weird to me. SET REPROCESS TO AUTOMATIC is not anything that should ever be done in a real multiuser environment, it's like passing .T. as the force argument to TableUpdate(). It is an attempt to insure that something will always go through when there is no way to insure that something will always go through.

You may think you have shut everything else down but apparently you haven't, because something is stiull holding a lock on you. It may even be the same instance of the application that is trying to update.
