I think most of you full time programmers/consultants for big organisations would opt for #2, but I for one would opt for #1 because I do not need to produce massive application for hundreds of users. I do not bother with all the fuss of registering Active-X and COM, built in tools are fine - but I do want the speed and flexibility that xBase (& Fox) always offered. It seems to me that something is skewed when you have to do extras to get a simple thing like the select grid row highlighted, but matters to do with huge Client/Server operations run well. I know I could use Access to be a 'hobby' programmer, but it just doesn't do the relational basics as well as Fox did or VFP does.
Still, I do appreciate all the help us part-time programmers get from all at UT.
