Let me add this to mine:
11. If you are talking to an MVP, be yourself and don't be afraid of posting your honest-to-goodness technical know-how. Who knows if you are proven correct.
12. If you are corrected by somebody and you are obviously wrong, admit it and don't stop posting because that's just another way of learning. Because correction leads to accuracy.

  • 1. Answer only questions that you know the answer to, qualify opinions or guesses as such.
    >
  • 2. If a thread or conversation isn't to your liking, don't read it.
    >
  • 3. Don’t allow novices to be mislead when you can correct the situation.
    >
  • 4. If you want to be respected, follow the other of these "commandments".

  • 5. If you think you are the only expert, you are mistaken.

  • 6. If you are talking to an MVP, remember they received the award for answering people's technical questions accurately and it is not a lifetime award. If an MVP is screwing up they very well may not continue to be an MVP.
  • 7. If you are talking to an MVP, remember that they received the MVP as an acknowledgement of what they have done already (in the past). They have no special responsibility to you or to anyone else.

  • 8. Ask what you want to know and answer what you do know, avoid answering questions that you know nothing about.
    >
  • 9. Treat others as you would want to be treated.
    >
  • 10. Never pretend to be something that you aren't. Everyone has something to contribute from their direct experiences so there is no reason to make up answers without knowledge.
