Just for completeness of thread, see my improved benchmark test code I posted Thread #305631 Message #306539 a few minutes ago. The proper SQL beats the Xbase code and IMHO the select is more readable and maintainable because it's one line of code instead of 9 lines that may be spread over a much greater distance of lines.
