>Gary, pardon my lack of experience with VI, but are you sure you need FP extensions to support data connectivity? I would think that if you had your own custom ISAPI filters or COM objects properly loaded on the server that data connectivity would work. I'm not trying to argue a point for or against installing FP exentions on the server, nor am I trying to shoot down your statement, I'm just curious.

You can create a database project that doesn't require the FP extensions. This allows you to manipulate and maintain the data on the back end. But that's all you can do with it. As for custom filters and objects as far as I know, you can't do anything with them in Interdev without being connected to a web server. And connecting requires the FP extensions.
"It is an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem. For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much -- the wheel, New York, wars and so on -- whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man -- for precisely the same reasons." - Douglas Adams
