You kinda had this in Clipper. You have the basic stuff in one LIB and extended and add-ons in separate LIBs that could be linked or not as needed. In theory, this is a great idea. In practice, I can see where VFP might be an environment where new functions were built on the backs of old and taking out the old might require a complete re-engineering of the new.
