The technical reference that comes with PRO 5 does not cover that much about how the thing get done, just structures, and global variables. Help anybody.

SBT stands for Sad But True.

They offer a week course for developers, but it was worthless. The instructor would jump out to the command window too often.

We got just a basic over view on how to change something on the soposd form, and how to figure out the freaking report writer prg.

We never got to objects, what dodefault() did or even get that code in a reference guide.

Problem w/ SBT is that the installed base has lots of custom apps, and those were written by 50% programmer and 50% CPA salesman. The code base has grown over the past 15 + years, I've worked with it since 91. It is mostly tiny function driven and the worst marco expansion experiment that ever grew up.(IMHO).

The code use to cross xBase platform so you could probably run it in Visual dBase or GUI Clipper today. There is no use of a DBC. Using the history files in current version is STUPID. They don't even use Joins in their code. It's all done to temp tables.

The AP & PR systems know that the end user has no brain. If a check run gets hung up it declares the checks as printed because it ran the report, not because you approved the print run. So you will find that you have to destroy checks to appeaze SBT.

Oh cr@p this is the season of "Peace on Earth and Good Will Towards Men" Blew that one with this post didn't I?

Someone suggested the LOOP, but you have to be a reseller to get into it.
