I've had a play and I can't immediately get anything to work. (tried the setall for mousepointer including making all columns not sparse, tried putting a chape on top and using the shape's zorder method to try to click through)
If I think of anything better I'll let you know.

can do some complex calculations about where the user clicks on the shape and pass that through to the grid, but that all sounds a bit too much like hard work.
