If users could screw around with their drive mappings and I had to use mapped drives, I'd store the information on the registry on a per-user, per system basis; I tend to use UNCs rather than mapped drive letters for file locations on the network so that file location names are uniform across systems. It's too easy for someone to screw up drive mappings. If I need them, I can always map the proper UNC to a drive letter with either the Win32 API or something like the Wscript.Network object.
