I was wondering how the natives suddenly became cannibals. I guess it's an unfair stereotype of this kind of brainteaser.
Also, in my solution there is a point where two cannibals are on the boat. They'd have to be fairly trusting missionaries to give cannibals their boat, and if they're so worried about being eaten, they obviously aren't the trusting type.
Actually, i liked the first answer: The missionaries won't be going anywhere until they convert the cannibals. Although cannibalism isn't as much a religious persuasion as a lifestyle choice. <g>
