I thought maybe that was what you were getting at when you said you can't make it the application's responsibility, but I wasn't sure, and that is why I posted.
On a slightly un-related note, we do get to find out when something is successfully printed yes? Isn't that the spooler notifications that can be set to pop up (at least under NT, I don't know about 95/98 how this works). Do you know how to tap into this information via the API? I don't know if it would help with finding when it didn't print, but if nothing else, one could queue receipts internally, and remove them when the spooler notification is sent.
