I tried it on my current app, put this code into PageLoc.Activate. In Edit box I have code in valid() method. Your idea works, but I had "This application made an illegal operation and should be closed... If this problem still exists, ...." few times. Finally I deleted this code... (returning 'status qo (?)')

But, as I said, your code works :)
