Qn FPT is a file like any other file. It can be damaged like any other file. It is not any more or less suspetible to damage than any other file. A network that is misbehaving can damage a file. An abnormal shutdown of the system at the wrong moment can damage a file. An abnormal shut down of the server can damage a file.
