I've been having a blast with the preferences form. In my environment I always have a development database and a production database. I have a switch (checkbox) on the preferences form that I can set to dynamically go back and forth between databases. I do it by setting a filter on the metadata.dbf. If the user doesn't have security, they will not see the switch and everything will point to production. Works like a charm!
