There is almost ALWAYS a better way to handle a given situation. they should be removed from VFP with a bunch of other legacy code/functions. I have used them RARELY to filter SMALL data sets (such as related line items where I only want to see the line items of a certain type) but even that could be handled differently.

Like you said, there is ALMOST always another better way to handle this. I'm just a guy that is willing to get the most from VFP as possible, therefore I've got some situations where I want to use SET FILTER over any other strategy.

To illistrate where i'm using SET FILTER for, you might look at the northernwind database in access. If you open the clientsform, you're able to filter the table. Just tell me what do you think is the best way to filter the table ? If you find another suitable alternative, please tell me.
