>Well, I was browsing the ZDNet website on this lovely January day, and I see something like "Y2K Bug is a Dud", and in addition to saying "Thanks for the info, I thought we all died <g>", I got rather disouraged. I think the Media's portrayal of the after math is even more embarassing then the build-up. My response included something like this:
>
>"Let me get this straigt: something that is wrong, actually gets fixed right, and thats a bad thing (Dud)?"
>
>Does anyone else feel like that? We get hashed on for, making the bug, work hard and spend lots of money to fix it, and since nothing happened, it was a hoax and we get hashed on for scaring folks and spending too much money. Damned if you do, Damned if you don't.

>Anyhoo, I thought the mock-Classified ad under feed back was pretty funny, in fact, I think I'll go buy a "slightly used" power generator sometime this week :-)

Mike,

Two things:

1) The press uses emotion to sell ads & subscriptions. Until the last few years the mainstream media has pretty much stayed away from selling out but with the financial pressures they've given in. Look how many times they use the word "feel" rather than "think". Too Bad.

2) They simply are, in general, just plain stupid, particularly with respect to technical issues. For goodness sakes most of them only read onscreen what others have written. Listen to how they often mispronounce SIMPLE words.

Best,

DD
