>Well, John you can cry all you want, but the fact is that it simply doesn't matter what you think <s>...

True... I am merely expressing my opinion...

>I don't like this place either. I don't like the UI, I don't like the attitude, the business model and a number of other things.

Yep.. My big beef is in the UT using the MVP program as part of it's propoganda machine.. I think Michel makes money off the backs of other people, and is incredibly short sited. I'm just ragging I suppose...

>Yet I come back and so do you. Guess why? Because the people are here. You and I we have different motives for being since it's not that often that we actually have a question that needs answering. We're here to help others often to promote our own visibility, services and products. It's a form of advertising, but also a way to be in touch with what people are doing with VFP. However, most folks come here for help and your chances of getting an answer here is far better than anywhere else...
>

Got me there...

>Another forum site? Maybe, but I doubt it'll break this site's grip... Building a community is hard to do and whether you like it or not this place has it. No matter how good another site is it'll be a long while before this community moves elsewhere...
>

I don't know.. The concensus I get is that if the MVP's migrated somewhere else, most folks would follow...

>Would you go somewhere else where there's a tenth of the people hanging out and do the same using up your valuable time? I don't think so.

>As bad as things may be, the current alternatives are worse. FoxForum is nowhere, there are about 100 other Fox forum type applications out there including my own (which is specialized and does well for what it is) which only serves to further splinter this market. The only other site that is doing well is Steve's Wiki and for good reason: It actually provides something innovative and useful.
>

There is a lot of dillution right now. Steve's Wiki site is good. I am not sure how I feel about the transcluded wiki concept anymore. I still think one should have to log into the site so that activity could be tracked...

>Features are nice, but how nice do you really need? Message Board software is pretty standard and you can put a slightly different face on it, but when it comes down to it it still works the same. XML support? Yeah, you can do that on my message board. You know how many people use it? Two - me and one other guy. Please, the value of these 'features' is acedemic at best.

Simple search mechansims are important. Here, you need to pay for it. I think this place makes good coin. I am sick of hearing how the UT needs its own social welfare program...

>Yes this place can definitely use face-lift, but as far as it goes Michel can run his business as he chooses. Last time I checked Canada was still a Capitalist country...
>

Well, Michel is in Quebec, which in some corners, calling Quebec as part of Canada, can get you shot. < bg >. As far as the politics there are concerned, with the separtist movement, langauge police, etc.. It sounds like more of a socialist regime with hints of facism sprinkled in for good measure. As for the rest of Canada, hints of Socialism, but on the whole, Capitalists rule the roost...

>So the options for us are simple: Shut up and put up, or get the hell out of here and don't come back.
