I don't use Stonefield, so I can't say exactly. FoxPro requires tables to be used exclusively in order to change the structure or indices, reindex, pack, etc. You can read more about this in Chapter 17 of the Programmer's guide.
Meanwhile, to answer the question for yourself, (since Stonefield does perform some types of magic) open 2 instances of FoxPro on your computer. Open some or all of your tables SHARED in one instance. In the other instance, do your Stonefield magic and see what happens.
One of my first newsgroup posts awhile back was about which command was faster. The MVP who answered me had timed each command on 100,000 reps to get the answer. Doh! I could have done that myself! Learned something that day!
