In addition, there is an entry in the FAQ by Paul-Vlad Tatavu that describes how to fire the self-registration code in an .OCX or .DLL through the Win32API; his technique has the advantage that you don't have to invoke an external program that might not be present where you expect it to be, and you can capture and deal with any errors from self-registration directly.
Doug Hennig's SFActiveX class simplifies the issue of proer registration of controls on the fly; it's been written up in the past in FoxTalk, and may be available from his site,
