>I have a Programe in VB that prints a report to file using common dialog (ShowPrinter method), when i open the file with notepad, i can't read the file ? Why ? How can i suppose to do if i want the report in the file is readable just like i print the report to printer ? Thanks.
The output is being created using the printer driver in effect at the time that the report is generated; printer codes are not legible at best, and may well be graphics representations that are understandable by the target printer but little else. If you have to view the data on-line, you can either create ASCII output and give up on any formatting, font selection and graphics in the output file, (you'd use the Generic/text Only printer driver) or one of the document output formats like the .PDF file format, which could be viewed with the Adobe Acrobat reader (the driver is not free.)
