Yes I had to fall back on that method. Now if I may be so bold
in getting back to my previous problem which you probably painfully remember, My form 'getname' works well when issued by itself, as I took the 'read event' out of the code in the activate form section.
I thus inserted that 'read event' command in a prg one line before I issue the statment 'do form getname' and NOW the form flashes briefly and gets ignored!
