I made the mistake of assuming something. When I tested, I re-compiled an entire project (with the "Recompile All Files" checkbox checked). My assumption was that the behavior I would see doing that would be the same as simply issuing a compile command against a file. It isn't. Further, I've been unable to find a way to turn it off.
