Drill down as follows: Knowledge Base [purple book], Articles, Client/Server.

As far as knowing what parameters you can pass, create an example DSN using the ODBC Administrator wizard, then go to the Registry [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ODBC\ODBC.INI] to see the strings and values. Then delete the DSN and try programmatically.
