Thanks for that. I want to run the seek code when an alpha character is entered or chosen from the dropdown list. I want to bypass the seek code the a number is entered. A number such as "242" or "414" or whatever.

I believe the reason I can't ControlSource to the table is because the user may either pick something from the dropdown list or enter a number into the combobox. And I don't want to add the number they entered to the dropdown list, only save it in a table.

I am thankful for the shortcut you showed me with the "$". I am sure it will come in handy here and elsewhere. I had missed using it in the past somehow.

Thanks again for your time and effort. It should be interesting to see if changing the code in the Valid event will solve the problem. Likewise, I contemplated putting the REPLACE command in the Interactive Change event. And I agree that I should run a trace of the events next time I get in this kind of jam.
