My PC runs WIN98 with 64 MB. Oftentimes, I have 3 VFP6 SP3 instances but it's still OK. I would suggest you to simulate the problem by looking for another PC with the same specs and see if the error still occurs. Take a look also on the PC specs. you mentioned that runs WIN NT and compare with the one runs WIN98.
More often than not, this problem is caused by PCs defective memory slots or the memory chip itself.
