Our tech got newsgroup access working through our firewall, so I posted this on the Access group. It turns out that you can't use SUM in the band I had it in. I moved it to another band and it worked fine.

>You might make an aggregate query with SUM() and see if you get #error. If so, you might have numbers it doesn't like (maybe handling of nulls, which always screws me up). If not, it could be a syntax problem, perhaps confusing the name of the field with the name of a textbox object, or something. You could also make a quick and dirty imitation of your report using the Access report wizard and see if the syntax comes out the same.
