I don't like the grey background ... neither do I like the cream color on your site :) I do like the white background of FoxForum however.

The thread on the left pane will go out of scope real fast in large thread (and you know how large they can be on UT sometimes :)), making the text wrap around and take more space.

I prefer the text link you used instead of the big icons we have here. The icons on UT just take some valuable spaces and are not easy to understand without pausing the mouse over them to know what they mean.

I also like the different colors you used for the header and the body of the message pane.
