Ed,
Sending this message to you since if anyone here can answer this type of question its you.
We have 2 sites that are linked thru DSL connection. I'm not exactly sure how the hardware guys, who's a consultant, set this up. But I think we're using the Internet to link up the 2 networks.
Anyways, there's a server at the other site running SQL Server. I'm developing a front-end in VFP. I'm in the process of testing the login screen now. But I've noticed this behavior from the command window also. The 1st time I try to do a sqlconnect, a timeout occurs, and the SQL ODBC reconnect screen pops up. If I hit ok at that point I get thru.
Do you know of any system parameters I can look at that might allow for a longer attempt to connect time, or might allow for a quicker connection to happen?
Thanks,
PF
