Grids are a replacment for a browse, not an addition. In your grid, set the RecordSourceType to Alias and the RecordSource to the table you want shown. You can do a FILTER or ORDER on the table and it will show up in the grid.

You should know that there are better ways of showing filtered data in a grid though, either views or SQL cursors will do the trick.
