Todd, if you're happy with what you're doing, I'm not going to argue with you; I think that the approach you take is not workable for the types of applications I develop, and pose significant problems for me. I'm not loking for an abstract debate. FWIW, I think the use of variables with other than local scope, and not using a standard notation for identifying the expected type, and possibly scope, of items, results in code that is significantly less portable to an n-tier environment, and represents what I'd consider to be a coding nightmare. If you're happy with what you do, have at it!
