Hi Evan,
I would say that I do not see any marked difference in UT performance, which I would rate as varying from acceptable to barely acceptable.
I have *NOT*, on the other hand, made *ANY* changes such as elimiating the graphic stuff.
Most typically I get very reasonable response for 3-5 messages that I click in a row, followed by up to 2-3 minutes of waiting before the next message appears and then resumption of very reasonable response for next 3-5 message, repeating the pattern alomst consistently.
I run IE5 on Win98SE and use a 33.6 modem. Sometimes I log in using my other machine with a 56kb modem but I percieve absolutely *NO* difference between the two.
Things are obviously tolerable, but I too have not seen anything of note in terms of improved response neither from the doubling bandwidth (though I *did* get some relief from my ISP to make things much better *before* the bandwidth improvement).
From my perspective it also looks like something inherent in UT that give me the 'performance' that I am seeing.
I surely can live with it as it is now (heck, I was living with very poor before the ISP help), though I feel envy at others reporting "snappy" performance.
Cheers,
Jim N
