Have a NT server/workstation with 2 dot matrix printers hanging off LPT1 & 2.
Have a FPD26 application with 2 options to print data - one prints via @ say the other via ?. I know it is an legacy app which customer won't upgrade.
It will print to both printers fine, one option to each, however the option printing to LPT2 waits 60 seconds to timeout before printing; or you can exit the FPD26 app and it prints instantly. Option printing to LPT1 prints instantly regardless whether it is the @ say or ? type program.
From Ms-DOS a DIR > LPT2 prints instantly.

A SET PRINTER TO does not close the the LPT2 port/queue.

Question - why should LPT2 always be slow.
