Yeah, those wonky things'll get you every time. :-)
Gotta keep smiling.

>(makes no difference which taget file or exe is specified...) On any machine except the dev machine, I execute each line in the command window and it works fine. Then I start again at line one and it runs fine. On this *&%$ machine, the second GETFILE attempt does nothing. THUD.

Running the code line-by-line from Command Window was going to be one of my other suggestions. Good thinking. Can't answer the question about Win95 cause we have NT here. But if you're seeing it run ok on other Win95 machines, I would suspect it's not 95. Sounds like, as you suspect, it's that particular machine.

Perhaps a Registry problem. MS has a Registry utility called Regclean which is supposed to clean up registry entries. Some have said it can also trash your Registry ( especially on NT ). I think there have been several versions out. I used it once on an NT machine with no apparent ill effects. As last resort you might try it, but I'd do some serious backing up of the Registry and important files if you do. Other than the things we've discussed and possible corruption of some sort on that specific machine, I don't know what it might be. If no one else jumps in with more info, you might post the request with all known info to one of the system experts like Ed Rauh or George Tasker. They know approximately 10**12 more than me on system stuff. :-)
