Yes,they are different,but both can operate on the same data structures.
If SQL was not meant to work on buffered views, I think VFP should probably throw up an error and stop....When would anybody ever want to run a SQL statement on a buffered view, rather than on the 'actual' database behind the view, in that there's going to be no difference.
