>I like the idea of VFP doing everything automatically, but am hesitant to use vfp triggers exclusively. What is everyones thoughts on this?
Michael,
Changing the topic to the job to be done, I see that there are clearly two pieces to the job, one is assiting the user to get thing right and giving the user timely feedback about any errors they may have made. The second is protecting the database from bad data.
Triggers are for protecting the database but are basically useless for giving the user timely feedback as they don't fire until the user has said they are done and committed their work.
I use both, the triggers are for protecting the database and the UI checking is to assist the user.
