Hi, everyone.
Would anyone help me with DLL problem? Frankly speaking I have no idea where I start first.

Symptom : Cannot install Oracle ODBC driver version 7.3 because MSVCRT.DLL causes stack error during install process. I searched the MSVCRT.DLL in HDD and there were 5 with 3 different version in different directories.

Below are the applications that have the DLL. The number is the order application was installed.
1. Windows 98 ( Ver 6.x ; Version is of the DLL)
2. Lotus Notes ( Ver 4.x)
3. Developer 2000 ( Ver 4.x)
4. DCOM 2.1 ( Installed but not sure if it has the DLL )
5. Oracle ODBC 7.3 ( installation failed, Version 4.x)

I deleted '2. Lotus Notes' first and 2 other applications by uninstall of control panel but it didn't work. Now I think it is time to delete Dev2k but it seems like another stupid trial.

What I want to know is
1. What for is the MSVCRT.DLL and can it be modified by someone like custom software vendors ? And how does Windows manage the version conflict of the same DLL?

2. Untimately what do you think I do first and how to escape this time.

3. For the perfect understanding of this problem ( DLL conflict or Windows registry etc ), do you have any source of reference for it ?
( Books or Web site )
4. How to uninstall DCOM in my system

If you can help me with any of four question, please don't hesitate.
Great thanks in advance.
