I hope you received an answer to you question prior to now but if you haven't, you can add an "iif" statement to fix this dilima.

for example:
iif(at(".", allt(padr(130.12,20)) )=0,0, len(substr(allt(padr(130.12,20)), at(".", allt(padr(130.12,20)) )+1 ) ))
