It used to be, with 6.5 and before, that you had to run SQL Server on NT Server and there was a product called SQL Workstation for NT Workstation. I don't see any point on putting MSDE and SQL Server on the same machine, though.

My new box I built with NT has two new 40GB UDMA drives and it works great for video editing. But I guess having a Creative Labs 3D Annhilator Pro card with 32MB won't help SQL server much! It doubles as a game machine for venting when I get fed up with the View Designer trashing my Views! :-)
