SQLServer 7 Enterprise (Standard?) allows two types of installation:
SQL Server 7 for NT Server (Can use Multi-CPU)
SQL Server 7 Desktop Edition (for NT Workstation and Windows 9x)
Both type of installation have the same functionality.
Some features are only available in NT (like OS integrated security).
Installing the Desktop Edition is like using a client license. It is mostly intended for use in development and mobile users.
SQLServer 6.5 worked the same in NT Server and Workstation.
Just an opinion... Not a fact.
