Others have expressed different opinions on UT, Rob, but having just upgraded and experienced the problems Fox 6 caused with my grids, comboboxes and even crashing my laptop completely, requiring a Windows reinstall, not to say the incredibly clumsy (non) help system (well it would be helpful if you use all the Visual Studio, but when you are just using VFP it is a real pain) I would say that unless you are into ActiveX and COM in a big way, skip it. The only really useful extra I have found is the ability to choose how many rows are visible in dropdown lists. Other changes are incremental and you could just as well skip it - but microsoft seems to me to be moving further and further away from a great interface and programming language, with a powerful engine - so I have little confidence that version 7 will do much to improve programming for the smaller application developer.

It's probably best to enrol in some full time study and get an academic version. You benefit from the study, and get discounts on software!
