PMFJI, but the "have-cake-and-eat-it-too" method that's commonly used is fairly simple:
1) main EXE on local machine
2) Desktop/Start Menu link runs tiny "launcher" app on server (or on local machine, if it never changes)
3) Launcher app checks by date or version, etc., to see if server has newer main EXE
4) If so, it copies it to local drive
5) It runs local main EXE
Not a lot to it, really...and the best of all worlds.
