Did you follow Benn's steps? They are exactly what you need to do. I'll try to fill in some blank if that will help.

Modify your base class.
If the Property Sheet is not open, select View|Properties from the menu.
In the dropdown list of objects in the Properties Sheet, go down through the list to find the grid, then the column, then the textbox you want to delete.

With that textbox object showing in the dropdown, click on the title bar of the class designer, to make it the current window. Visually check that the textbox is still showing in the properties sheet dropdown, then press the delete key.
