Not sure why the thread is titled 'PC Install' since mostly deals with the M$ products for installing. I have used PC Install since MSDOS days, and grew with it. PC Install features include:
* 'top to bottom' script -- plays in the order you put the lines in the script
* specified events where you may run your own programs
* able to copy / delete files not part of your install
* nested if logic ( helpful finding base product when installing an add-on )
* splash screen, colors, messages
* single, meaningful progress bar ( actually gives user a realistic estimate of how far along the install is ), personally, I have found multiple progress bars that repeat over and over again like jack-in-the-boxes up and down throughout the whole install procedure distracting and not very informative
* Not terribly expensive
* will build to either diskette images or Web / CD file
* Setup.exe may be renamed by renaming the xxxx.cfg file
* can build multiple SETUP.EXE's for various versions of a product in one automated procedure
* Script is simply text so any editor will work ( Notepad or VFP's own ), the built in editor brings forward a custom dialog box laid out with drop down lists of reasonable choices where permitted, so you rarely have to refer to the manual or even the online help
