I've been hearing how the report bundled with a recent app hasn't been working. Since there have been no chances to the program or the report file, i assumed it was operator error (PEBKAC, user=ID10T, etc.) This would not be uncommon.

After enough (distributed) calls on this problem, i investigate only to find that Crystal's Xbase driver isn't compliant. I can understand why, and i am sympathetic to complexity of the software and the supported databases. What i can't believe is that the marketing department mass- emails me with news about how the development teams spent their christmas vacation, but they can't send a general heads-up about possible Y2K compliance issues.

If i had been notified BEFORE it was an issue, there would be a lot less down-time and aggravation. It's not difficult to update an installation of Crystal Reports, but it is time consuming to update 30 remote installations of Crystal Reports.

I love Crystal Reports, but i have other things to do...
