I don't think you want to bring the free tables into the DBC. This would probably create problems for SBT. But creating views of the free tables is the right way to go. I did this with an application I wrote that integrated with SBT.
I'm not sure why the views are getting trashed. When you open the view, are the SBT free tables on your FoxPro path? I found that the best way to work with views is to manage the views with code. Take a look at Erik Moore's EView utitlity, which should be in the Files section.
