For example, the client has input a bunch of records with a blank field because the value of the field won't be known until later. The blank field will be the the same for this batch of records. Rather than go through 1 by 1 and change this field, he wants to be able to use Access to change this field all at once. Then, obviously, he would use our application for everything else. He is fairly computer literate and the command to change the field would not be complex. However, he doesn't want to learn Foxpro. The answer to this may be that he just can't do it.

Then an ODBC connection from Access to the VFP ODBC driver should work. The problem with this is that the user may inadvertently delete records or worse change other fields' contents. It would probably be best if you create some sort of interface so he can do this within your app.
