I have both of those books sitting right here on my desk. (If you ever buy one, get the "orange" one. It's much easier to read than the "GUI Guide.") Unfortunately, they don't cover anything like a Mover box. The closest I've found, other than the wizards, is in the "view definer" in Outlook. They have a "field chooser" which implements a Mover Box.

Thanks for your help! What we have decided to do here as a general rule is to follow examples in programs that our users have installed on their PCs already. We have found that it greatly simplifies our Help Desk/Trainer's lives. Frequently you'll hear them saying something like, "You know how the column sort works in your Inbox? It works the same way in SuperWidget."

In this case, we don't have a good example, but we'll still follow the Wizards/Field Chooser examples to protect us from the question: "Who designed this interface? I don't like it." "If you go to yada, yada, yada in Outlook, you'll see that it works just like that." Maybe not ideal, but it keeps my team from having to agonize over design stuff. We have nearly a thousand users.
